Oh ya, and our History class turned out to be a complete bullshit type scenario. I don't want to get into it but Aaron and I are dropping the class. Simply put it wasn't worth the time and effort. I drank far to many frozen beverages yesterday morning, having a Jamba Juice, a 40 oz Slurpee, and a 44 oz Glacier in the span of less then 2 hours. But it was all good...

I watched 3 of the 4 men's hockey games yesterday. I would have watched Russia vs. Belarus but I didn't get home before it was over, oh well. I was impressed by Sweden's 'torpedo' system which totally screwed up Canada in their 5-2 win. The Czech Republic vs. Germany game was what I expected, although it would have been alot better had the German coach not been a choad and start the backup goalie in place of their hot goalie who was 3-0 and only allowed 3 goals in 3 games in the prelims...didn't make any sense whatsoever. Finally, the US creamed Finland 6-0 just as I expected them to do, although I didn't expect to see Mike Dunham in goal.
Today Russia and the U.S. play, but the geniuses at the NBC Networks are morons and want to show it on NBC itself, so they are showing it at 11:30 pm even though they've been showing the rest in primetime on CNBC. Bastards....

Green Valley's High School bowling teams are both going to the State finals (the boys team and the girls team). So my brother will more then likely be a state champ for the second time in three years. Good for him...

The CS program that was due tomorow has been postponed till Tuesday. The calc test may or may not be easy. He said 80% of it will be stuff like we've done, which concerns me. Everything we have done in class has been simple things that I should have no problem with. But on the quizzes he goes fucking wolvi-berzerk. The history test is becoming more and more lame every class period she talks about it. As of now I need to memorize 70 terms (people, concepts, and a few events) along with their date, their possible relationship with the other 70 terms, and approximatly 2-5 specific facts that relate to one of the other 70 terms. Then there are the other 20 dates and events I need to know as well as prepare 5 essays. Lameness...
Aaron and I are going to a concert/recital thing tonight at UNLV for extra credit on our Music Appreciation class.
Only good news today is that my second favorite hockey player, Pavel Datsyuk was indeed added to the Russian Olympic Hockey team like I had thought he would.

Oscar award nominations were made. Unfortunatly Memento was only nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
Here are my picks/thoughts for most of the categories:
Best Picture
I'm hoping that Lord of the Rings doesn't win even though I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought A Beautiful Mind was a more moving film with better acting. My pick would be for A Beautiful Mind, even though I think LoTR will win.
Best Actor:
Will Smith did an excellent job in Ali even though the film was less then good, I'm hoping he gets the credit for doing such a good job but I believe Russel Crowe will edge him out. Denzel Washington in Training Day...blah I dont think so.
Best Actress:
I haven't seen all of the films with these actresses in them, but I don't think Nicole Kidman will win for Moulin Rouge. My guess is Halle Berry will win for her roll in Monster's Ball.
Best Director:
Everyone wants Ron Howard to win, so do I...I dont see anyone jumping out in this category although Peter Jackson would be my pick to win for LoTR (damn that movie).
Best Supporting Actor:
Jon Voight was cool as Cossel in Ali, but I liked Ian McKlellan as Gandalf more...
Best Supporting Actress:
Jennifer Connoly was nominated for her role in A Beautiful Mind, but I still think that she didn't do anything spectacular. I dont know about the rest of them, but since Connoly won the AFI award for this then perhaps she will win again.
Best Original Screenplay:
Memento better win. At the AFI awards they lost but they were also competing against adapted screenplays. Unfortunatly because they weren't a huge blockbuster hit and only critically aclaimed I figure Monster's Ball or Gosford Park will win.
Best Adapted Screenplay:
Lord of the Rings is just a juggernaut coming into the Oscar's with 13 nominations. Hopefully this works against them and the academy picks A Beautiful Mind thinking LoTR will win other things.
Best Foreign Language Film:
No Man's Land is my choice. The film had a really interesting/serious/satirical premise and was a good film.
Best Animated Film:
Shrek was so much better then Jimmy Neutron, although Monsters Inc. wasn't so bad. I pick Shrek to win the first award ever in this category.
Cinematography:
I want Moulin Rouge to win, although this category is anyone's guess...and of course LoTR is nominated here as well.
Film Editing:
I'm so biased towards Memento, but the way they had 2 stories put together, one starting at the very end and working backwards and the other one starting at the very beginning going forwards and both meeting at the end of the actual movie is ingenious. But considering its up against LoTR, A Beautiful Mind, Blackhawk Down, and Moulin Rouge I doubt it will win. This one is the hardest one for me to pick who will actually win.
Sound:
At this point I'm getting bored, but I want Moulin Rouge to win.
Visual Effects:
Finally a category I want Lord of the Rings to win...they only have to beat Pearl Harbor and AI. Hopefully people enjoyed the more subtle effects such as the hobbit size as opposed to the giant ship explosions and dogfights of Pearl Harbor. The large battlescenes in LoTR were equally impressive...
Roeper ain't got nothing on me!

Site has been down for a week, blah blah blah, might be down again for a day or 2. The worst part about it was that my email was down as well.
Anyways, I had some things I wanted to post over that week but now it seems as though I've forgotten what most of it was. First off, our (aaron and my) calculus teacher is a prick. He goes over the most simplest examples and barely defines what we are going over and then gives us these insane questions on quizzes. Aaron and I already have taken calculus and we are still having a hard time on them. Our History teacher is also just as bad, except it is with her grading. No one has any idea how she is grading our quizzes, but I've seen alot of sub 5 scores (out of 10) and a lot of 0's and no one has any idea why. I lucked out and got a 9 and a 7.5 so far. Originally scheduled for this week was a CS program due Thursday, a Calc test Friday, a History test Friday, AND a Music test Friday. Luckily I think the CS program is going to be simple enough, the calc test I know the stuff and its just about the worrying, and the Music test has been pushed to next Wednesday. So that only really leaves History. I need to memorize a bunch of events and specific dates which I really haven't had to do before, but I'm not that concerned.
In other news the Olympics are going on down in Salt Lake (many of you might have known this already heh). CNBC is showing insane amounts of hockey coverage, so I've seen 6 games in the last 2 days of the preliminary qualifying (the crappy teams who aren't already in the 'medal rounds'). Belerus is playing well and has advanced on from their pool to face the big 6 of the United States, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic, and Finland. Germany and Latvia play tonight to see which goes on, and although I've been chearing for Germany I believe Latvia will win with Arturs Irbe in goal. Its almost trivial though because either team will get slaughtered by any of the big 6. Being American should mean that I'm cheering for the US in this event, but its not really true. If they win gold then good for them (they better medal though), but if not I wont be surprised. I'm cheering more for the 10 Redwing players involved. Hull and Chelios for the US, Yzerman and Shanahan for Canada, Fedorov and Larionov for Russia, Lidstrom, Holstrom, and Olausson for Sweden, and Hasek for the Czech team. A center for Russia was injured so there is a good chance Pavel Datsyuk of Detroit will also be playing for Russia. America swept the medals in men's halfpipe snowboarding...whoopty fucking doo. The Canadian figure skating pair was screwed out of the gold medal by retarded communist/eastern bloc judges who awarded it to the Russians. It was clear to the announcers, analysts, the crowd, and myself that the Canadians skated a very emotional, flawless run that was much better then the Russians who made several small errors. But such is figure skating I guess...
What else is there to talk about? Oh ya, James is still bugging me to do a redesign for Subversion. Aaron seems to not care either way and I would be glad to do it, but James still needs to ask Chris if it is ok. This is their project and group, not mine. I'm not gonna get involved in a split decision type situation. There is also the fact that James is a choad and I dont agree with blogging every part of the site. Lynda is still crazy =)
Yeesh, and to think this is only a little bit of what I wanted to post.
