Russia won the bronze as I had expected. Pavel Datsyuk was the best player, he had a +5 and scored a goal and tallied 2 assists. Larionov also picked up 3 points (3 assists) and Fedorov had an assist. Redwings are dominating the Olympics.
Looks at though myself, Aaron, and Jeremy will all be getting copies of Two from Electrogarden/A Different Drum.
I played NHL 2K2 for a few hours. I decided to start a season since I got the game the other day. I played the first 7 games out of the 82 scheduled today and I went 7-0-0-0, and I didn't allow a single goal.

It's 1:45 am and appropriatly enough I'm watching Insomniac on Comedy Central. The show is rather funny as it consists mainly of the host going around doing stupid things late at night, including lots of drinking. Anyways on this episode he's down in New Orleans and at the moment he is riding with a few cops who are hunting these rodents. Basically they have 2 cops in the back of a pickup, one with a searchlight and the other with a rifle. The man with a rifle is part of the swat team's sniper division. They are driving down the river bank "eradicating" these rodents. It was hilarious to watch him open fire on these stupid fucking giant rats, especially with Dave Attell (the host, although my spelling on his last name is most likely incorrect) making off the wall comments and then taking pictures alongside one of his own "kills".

I was just beginning to write my entry and I had Jeopardy on the TV behind me when all of a sudden I heard Alex Trebec say "synthpop". Yes, he did say synthpop. It was a question about 80's music and synthpop was mentioned.
Anyhow, Canada obliterated Belarus as was expected. Exactly 22 years to the day of the "Miracle on Ice" the U.S. and Russia had a rematch again in the semifinal round of the Olympics. The U.S. took a 3-0 lead into the start of the third period, but 11 seconds into the period Russia scored. 2 minutes later they scored again. For the next 17 minutes it was a fast paced, high anxiety matchup with some brilliant saves by both goaltenders. In the end though, the U.S. won out and will go on to the finals to play Canada. Already the North American gold medal matchup is being called the most important game in hockey history. Seems like a lot of hype to me. On paper I dont see how the United States could beat Canada, but the U.S. has outplayed them so far in the tourney. Sunday will be the gold medal matchup and I can't figure out who is going to win. Russia and Belarus play tomorow for the Bronze....
Still think its funny he mentioned synthpop.

I just listened to Mesh's albulm "In This Place Forever", and I can't say it was something I needed to hear right now (lyrically). Although I started listening to random things in my playlist and I realized that 95% of the music I have is angsty, depressing, or just down right evil. Why is it that I don't have any music that is uplifting, happy, or good spirited? What the hell is going on?

Oh ya, today Aaron and I got our first Calculus test scores. I was surprised to see that I got an 87, much higher then I had expected. Aaron's score was even more shocking, he recieved a 55. That is the worst score I've ever seen either of us get on a test of any sort....

Canada vs. Finland just finished with a score of 2-1 in favor of Canada. Today was a good showing for the Redwings players because 4 scored goals: Yzerman, Lidstrom, Chelios, and Hull. Friday the semifinals of the tourney up with the winners going to the gold medal match and losers going to the bronze medal match. U.S. plays Russia and Canada plays Belarus. I'm hoping for a U.S. vs. Canada gold medal matchup.

United States dominated Germany 5-0. Canada vs Finland should be starting any time now.

2 games down, 2 to go.
Sweden lost in a huge upset game to Belarus by a score of 4-3. I didn't see that one coming but it was very exciting to watch. Russia just beat Czech Republic 1-0.
U.S. vs Germany is next up with Canada vs. Finland to follow....

You know that feeling when you want to know everything and anything that is going on regarding something, but you know its none of your business....damn.
I finally got NHL2k2 for my Dreamcast (recognize bitch). Its a rather enjoyable game. I particularly like the updated rosters, the advanced controls, and the new play by play. James "says" it is his birthday Saturday and he keeps bugging me to go to Ritual. I may or may not go, I have not yet decided. Obviously factors such as transportation and my Sunday morning duties will weigh in on my final decision. He also keeps bugging me to do a new Subversion design, but I'm hesitant because I still haven't heard Chris ok it. I'll probably go about and perhaps do a design or two and just see what happens from there.
Does anyone want to buy me a new printer?

At times I'm glad that most of my posts are more "historical" representations of what has happened during the day. I'll post what I did in class, what I'm currently doing, recaps of friendly get togethers, hockey scores, and an occasional badmouthing of UNLV. With that being said, I think I'll stick with it because at this moment I dont know what the hell else to say. Actually thats not true, I know exactly what I want to say but I dont feel like saying it (for certain reasons that will remain unknown to others).
Lets get down to it then:
Olympics are still in full swing, and we are getting to the medal round of the ice hockey starting Wednesday. This happens to be a very happy time for me because I love hockey. Today all 8 teams played, and I watched hockey from 10am till after 8pm. Yes, I watched hockey for that long. First up was United States vs. Belarus. U.S. started slow but the Belarussian goalie fell apart at the end so the U.S. won 8-1 and captured top seed in their pool. Next up was Russia vs Finland, which was a very good game but Finland pulled the upset to capture the 2nd seed in the same pool as the U.S. Russia and Belarus finished 3 and 4 in the pool. After that game was the best of the day, Canada vs. Czech Republic. Canada was one of the favorites going into the tournament and the Czechs are defending gold medalists. Canada has been playing like shit, but fortunatly they got their stuff together and were able to skate to a tie. The biggest surprise of the round has been Sweden, which finished off Germany today to go 3-0 in their pool taking 1st seed ahead of Czech Republic, then Canada, and finally Germany. So Wednesday it will be United States vs. Germany, Sweden vs. Belarus, Finland vs. Canada, and Czech Republic vs Russia. I predict the U.S., Sweden, Canada, and Czech Republic (if Hasek plays well) to win. Should be interesting to see though.
UNLV still sucks, as I still don't have the foggiest idea what I actually need to show for documentation in my CS program or even how to email it in. Hopefully I can find out in the morning before its due. I wrote my essay for English, its not horrible but its definetly not my best. I have again neglected to study anything for music, although all I need to know are a handful of terms, a few notes, and be able to identify a few pieces of music.
Music: I'm still listening to the new Mesh albulm. I was reading Vegasgoths (which I do on a rare occasion) and saw info about this new Synth show in Toronto in June. The lineup looks great, unfortunatly its $150 and in Canada so the chances of going are slim and none.
Miscellaneous...I'm still not going to go there.
