I made a new desktop for my computer, not sure if I like it...a bunch of small things that bug me. But for now I'll use it. You can use it too if you want. My desktop is 1280x1024 so it is optimized for that size, the 1024x768 and 800x600 have a slight loss of detail.Thursday, March 28, 2002
Spring break has been boring so far. James is in town from Oregon, except he brought 2 buddies with him. They've been doing all sorts of things so we haven't done much. I've been playing Quake with Aaron a bit, trying to figure out hotel/airfare arrangements for Synthpop Goes the World, and working on redoing the computers here. Not to let KKKris back out, but the Academy Awards just finished up and man what a load of garbage that was. From the very beginning you knew it wasn't going to be about who the best anything was...it was going to be about who was black. Sidney Portier recieved a lifetime achievement honorary Oscar for his career and how he paved the way for black actors. Granted, he was actually deserving of this award. However, Whoopi Goldberg was the host and almost every other comment out of her mouth or any other black actor/actress' mouth was about black this and black that. So when it came time for the Best Actress award, it no longer mattered who was best. Halle Berry was black. The only redeeming part of her "victory" is the fact that she made a complete fool out of herself during her acceptance speech. However, it wasn't until Russel Crowe was screwed out of his second straight Best Actor award by Denzel Washington that I think everyone else started to notice. I can only see the papers tomorow, Russel Crowe will no doubt say something much along the lines of what I am saying now. He looked rather irrate as Denzel gave his speech. Shit, Denzel Washington wasn't even the best black actor nominated in the category. Will Smith did a far better job as Ali, despite the fact that the film was horrendous.
