I dont know if I've said it before, but Insomniac with Dave Attel is a really funny show.

For some unknown reason I started listening to the albulm "Perversion" by Gravity Kills again today...and I was enjoying it. It's been a long time since I've listened to that albulm.

Anyhow, I'm in a not-so-good mood because the Redwings lost 4-3 in overtime today in Game 1 against Vancouver. Not the best way to start a series.

Some of you may remember Fight3. Stick figure fight animations are comical, and this one is by far the cream of the crop. I saw this one a long time ago in CADD class at A-tech. However, recently many people have been spamming me a link to the file again. So, for your viewing pleasure:

I just realized the little footer to each of my posts is somewhat useless. Sure the time is neat, but why have "Posted by Destral"....it isn't like someone else is making posts....LOL.

Cup Crazy baby!

Wednesday begins the Stanley Cup playoffs. The most exciting time in hockey...so here I'm going to make my predictions/analysis of each of the matchups. For those of you who dont like my hockey post (Lynda), well you can go fuck yourself. =)

EASTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Boston Bruins vs (8) Montreal Canadians
An original six matchup. Boston has two strong offensive lines with and a lot of grinders. They should win this with ease. The only chance Montreal has is if Jose Theodore steals the show.
Prediction: Boston, 4 games to 1

(2) Philadelphia Flyers vs (7) Ottawa Senators
Philly has the goal scorers, the size, and the will power to creammate Ottawa. The only problem is their goaltending, both Roman Czechmanik and Brian Boucher have poor playoff records.
Prediction: Philadelphia, 4 games to 0

(3) Carolina Hurricanes vs (6) New Jersey Devils
This ranking system isn't the most appropriate. The Devils have the better record with 95 points (Carolina having 91), but since Carolina won their division they get the higher seed. The Devils have been playing alot better since the Olympic break and they have what it takes to make another run at the cup. Martin Brodeur is a big game goaltender and the team is the fiestiest in the East. The only reason this series wont be swept by New Jersey is the Carolina backstop, Arturs Irbe, who will prove difficult to score against later in the series
Prediction: New Jersey, 4 games to 2

(4) Toronto Maple Leafs vs (5) New York Islanders
This is by far the best matchup in the east. Curtis Joseph vs. Chris Osgood. Joseph is coming off a broken hand and Osgood has brought his A game the past few games. Osgood has won a cup before and can handle the pressure of the big games. Joseph is always one of the top goalies come playoff time, but without some production from his teammates it will be an early exit for the Leafs again. While I really want to see the Islanders win, I think the Leafs will ride Joseph into the second round once again.
Prediction: Toronto, 4 games to 3

WESTERN CONFERENCE

(1) Detroit Redwings vs (8) Vancouver Canucks
The best team in the league meets with the best team of the past few weeks. While I am overally biased towards Detroit, I am really worried about this matchup. The top two offenses square off in what is sure to be a shootout. If Dominic Hasek continues to play with his head up his ass, Detroit's season will come to a crashing end. Detroit is by far the better team and SHOULDN'T have trouble defeating the Canucks....but anything can happen in the playoffs.
Prediction: Detroit, 4 games to 2

(2) Colorado Avalanche vs (7) Los Angeles Kings
This will no doubtably be the most intense matchup in the first round. Last year these teams went to 7 games before Colorado edged the Kings. Colorado's offensive is lacking this year, but Patrick Roy has been having one of his greatest seasons ever. If Colorado's defense can punish LA forwards such as Ziggy Palffy then they can squeek by. If Felix Potvin HAS to play better then Patrick Roy for LA to keep it close.
Prediction: Colorado, 4 games to 3

(3) San Jose Sharks vs (6) Phoenix Coyotes
This should be no contest for the Sharks, unless Sean Burke stands on his head and steals the series for Wayne Gretsky's crew. Evgeni Nabokov is one of my favorite goalies, and he has the skill to carry San Jose deep into the playoffs for the first time.
Prediction: San Jose, 4 games to 1

(4) St. Louis Blues vs (5) Chicago Blackhawks
Then 2nd and 3rd place teams in the central division behind Detroit. Naturally I have to hate both teams. But I hate the Blues so much more. The Blues are a "playoff" team and have the big time defensive players and offensive guns to dismantle Chicago. The question mark for both teams is goaltending. Chicago's Jocelyn Thibault was the hottest goalie the first half of the year but has grown tired the 2nd half, and Steve Passmore has filled in for him. Thibault should get the start and he needs to play at his best for Chicago to win. St. Louis will likely start Brent Johnson, who like his counterparts, is unproven in the playoffs. The winner of this matchup almost seems trivial, as they dont have the netminding to go to the finals.
Prediction: St. Louis, 4 games to 3

CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

Boston vs. Toronto ---> Boston 4 games to 3
Philadelphia vs. New Jersey ---> New Jersey 4 games to 3
Detroit vs. St. Lous ---> Detroit 4 games to 2
Colorado vs San Jose ---> Colorado 4 games to 2

CONFERENCE FINALS

Boston vs. New Jersey ---> New Jersey 4 games to 2
Detroit vs. Colorado ---> Detroit 4 games to 3

STANLEY CUP FINALS

Detroit vs. New Jersey ---> Detroit 4 games to 2

Conn Smythe MVP Prediction - Dominic Hasek

And that concludes my Stanley Cup preview. I'll make updated predictions following each round in the case I am incorrect.

A snippet from Greenday:
Sit around and watch the phone, but no one's calling
Call me pathetic, call me WHAT YOU WILL
My mother says to get a job
But she don't like the one SHE'S got
When mastur bation's lost its fun
You're fucking lazy
