Seems as though Chris got the job I told him about at my workplace. Monday he's not going in until later, but Tuesday we're both going in early. So I'll see him then. Man that's gangsta'.

Talked to James Davis last night. Turns out he may just be able to get into town for the party Saturday (22nd). Kickass...

I promise this is my last hockey post until October...most likely. Tonight Detroit won it's 10th Stanely cup, it's 3rd in the last 6 years. Tomas Holmstrom and Brendan Shanahan provided the goals in Detroit's 3-1 victory. Niklaus Lidstrom was named the Conn Smythe winner for MVP of the playoffs. Good decision, even though it could have gone to about 4 Wings, including Yzerman, Hasek, and Fedorov. Yzerman immediately handed the cup to coach Scotty Bowman, who laced up his skates and took it for a lap around the ice. Minutes after the game finished Bowman announced his retirement. He's won 10 Stanely Cup's in his career, 9 coaching...tying him for the most titles all time in the 4 major team sports (basketball, baseball, football, hockey) with Phil Jackson (who got his 9th with the Laker's last night) and Red Auerbach. Hasek said he was unsure of whether he would retire or not, but he's accomplished everything possible and I expect him to leave. Yzerman will no doubt miss the first few months of the season recovering from knee surgery/reconstruction which he will have done over the summer. Perhaps Detroit will pickup Curtis Joseph to replace Hasek. Of course to cap off the evening, Vladimir Konstantinov stood on the ice again like he did in 1998 when Detroit won their last cup. If you didn't know already, he was in a career ending (and almost life ending) car accident following Detroit's 1997 championship and he's about as fragile as Mohammed Ali.

Here are some pics stolen from ESPN to recap the celebration.

Haven't posted in a couple days...

Monday Detroit took a 3-1 series lead against Carolina. It was a great game for Detroit. Larionov continues to light the lamp, scoring the first goal of the game. Hull tallied his 100th career playoff goal, moving into 4th place all time behind only Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, and Yari Kurri (all of the Edmonton Dynasty). Shanahan finally broke his streak of badluck by making an excellent touch on a marvelous pass by Fedorov. Jiri Fischer decided he didn't like one of the Hurricanes, and crosschecked the guy across the face. He's been suspended for game 5, which is Thursday in Detroit. Unfortunately for him he wont be on the ice when Detroit wins the cup Thursday.

Been working on a few different sites at work, including the main site for the place I work. You can check it out here: Interlink Development.

Tonight I went to some sports marketing focus group, spent an hour and a half watching the less popular olympic sports and rating them. Man those ping pong players kick ass. It was all good, for the 2 hours of my time spent I got $60 for it.

Saturday was a good day. At 5pm game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals started. Sometime after 10pm game 3 finally ended...after triple overtime. The goal came after 54 minutes, 47 seconds of overtime...third longest all time which was 55 minutes, 13 seconds of overtime. Less than a minute away from setting a record for longest game...damn. The best part though was that Detroit finally won, and it was the oldest player in the league and oldest player to ever score a finals goal who won it for them. Igor Larionov scored the winning goal AND the first goal for Detroit in the 3-2 win. He's 41 years and 168 days old.

Igor Larionov

After killing a bit of time online chatting with Colt and checking out what's up for the reunion party on the 22nd, Aaron messaged me about going out with the group. So he picked me up and we went bowling down at the Orlean's with Chris, Kristyn, Dan, Levi, Ben, Scott, Jaimie, and Billy. Billy and Kristyn didn't bowl, and Billy left sometime without my knowing. In a pathetic display of athleticism (If you can call it that, it's bowling afterall), Ben and I each won a game. Chris, Levi, and Aaron did some funky dance off following each mark and Ben made a fool of himself by accidentally launching Aaron's slushy off the table.

As we were driving back from the Orleans we passed by the Adult Superstore, and Aaron made a joke about it so Chris felt the urge to go in. We perused the stuff there...man was it disturbing. We couldn't find an inflatable sheep or 5 foot dildo for Aaron, so he was disappointed....hehe.

Anyhow, Saturday was good.
=)
