Actually, I just looked for info on him on google. Came about his MSU profile, complete with picture. It's definetly him!

OMFG. I've been randomly browsing NHL.com and happened to be looking at the 2002 NHL Entry draft (just prior to this current season). I went to see who Detroit drafted with their 1st pick, and noticed they traded their 1st round pick to Atlanta. But I noticed Lapeer, MI on the list...which is where I lived prior to moving here. I saw the person went to Michigan State, was born in 1982, and then I saw the name Jim Slater. Then it hit me. I was really good friends with a Jimmy Slater who played hockey in Lapeer. Thats just too much coincidence. I never talked to him once I moved away, but I still talk to another friend from there online from time to time, and I know he's at Michigan State. I'll ask him next time I see him on if he knows anything about it.
That'd be cool if I knew someone drafted into the NHL in the first round!
